About the Alaska State Archery Association

Alaska State Archery By Laws
Alaska State Archery Constitution

Welcome to the land of dreams for bowhunters. The ASAA is dedicated to promoting all types of archery. The ASAA is chartered by the National Field Archery Association. The ASAA supports NAA and FITA style shooting events as well as NFAA shoots. We encourage you to become a member and help our association continue to make the sport of target archery, 3D shoots and bow hunting available in the coming years for those that yearn to watch the flight of the arrow..

This is the only state in the United States of America where you can compete in the State NFAA field shoot and go fishing for King Salmon in a local streams when you are done shooting for the day. In some years the State Field shoot is held in July, and is great practice for heading north to the Dalton Highway when the shoot is over and hunting Caribou.

The following is a list of outdoor and indoor shooting ranges that are available for shooting in the state:

Alaska State Archery:  The State Association has a leased range located on Trunk Road at the Matanuska-Susitna College. NOTICE: The range is closed in the evenings. The gate is locked at 10:00 pm. The gate is closed on Sunday. You are required to stop at the administration office and sign in when you come in and when you leave. This is so they can keep track of hikers and shooters and there is no conflict.. The range is available for ASAA members use only. Currently there are 14 targets installed for unmarked shooting. There will be an additional 14 targets installed this summer. Targets are purchased by sale of lanes by local business firms and individual members. This is an excellent chance for you to advertise your business and get a write off and help archery at the same time. Contact Scott Crinklaw at Fletchers Archery (907) 373-7770 or Markus Doerry (907) 688-2882 if you are interested in purchasing a lane.

Cook Inlet Archers. (907) 301-2800 This club has a dedicated 3D range located at the Loretta French Park on the Old Glenn Highway. This is the site of the old Peters Creek Dump. A 3D shoot is held the 3rd Sunday of each month October through May. The range has pillow targets that are available for unmarked yardage practice 12 months a year for members. Join the club and enjoy shooting opportunities 12 months a year.

Golden North Archery. This club is located in Fairbanks and provides a 28 target field course that is located on private property. It is a challenging course to shoot a field round at.

Juneau Alaska. The Juneau club has a 28 target field range that is used primarily for practice and 3D shoots. If you are going to travel to Juneau take your bow and your fishing rod. Both can be put to good use.

Northwest Archers Association (907) 688-9528 This club is located in Anchorage and has an archery range located at Kincaid Park. The range has a certified N.F.A.A 28 target field course with a practice range that provides targets from 10 to 80 yards. The field course is open for the use of members only. The practice field is open to the public starting the first of May through September. It is the opinion of some, that the field course is unmatched on the west coast for beauty and tranquility. Where else would you have to shoo a moose off the trail, or from in front of the target before you shoot?

Soldotna Alaska is the home for the Peninsula Archers. They have a new range under construction southwest of the old range. This is located south of Soldotna on the Sterling Highway.
